Sight loss is not always inevitable. But we need to act fast. We’re shining a spotlight on eye care services and calling for action to reduce avoidable sight loss. We can all play a part.
The Eyes Have It is a partnership of Roche, Macular Society, Fight for Sight, The Royal College of Ophthalmologists, Association of Optometrists and RNIB.
The partnership came together in 2021 to raise awareness of sight loss and encourage Parliamentarians to reimagine capacity in NHS eye care services.
Since then, we’ve made a real impact, thanks to:
Westminster Eye Health Day 2021, which welcomed over 50 Parliamentarians to learn about sight loss.
Media coverage in political and trade press, with broadcast radio coverage across 273 radio stations, including two national stations, and three regional TV interviews, with a total reach of over 8.5 million people.
Supporting a Westminster Hall debate on macular disease led by Jim Shannon MP.
One of the most successful Politico London Playbook advertising campaigns in 2021, with 1994 clicks in one week.
Supporting long-standing efforts across the eye care sector calling for the appointment of a National Clinical Director for Eye Care.
A meeting with the Parliamentary Under Secretary of State (Minister for Patient Safety and Primary Care) in April 2022.
A policy roundtable with NHS leaders in June 2022 to discuss policy priorities in eye health.
